About the Traveling World Community Film Festival
The Traveling World Community Film Festival is the brain-child of the World Community Development Education Society based out of Comox, British Columbia. The 21 year old organization started with the vision to raise "awareness of global development issues through local education and action" (from the WCDES website, http://www.worldcommunity.ca). This festival features films on human rights, water and food scarcity, environmental considerations, world health, international development, homelessness and world peace.
Terrace's Traveling World Community Film Festival is hosted by a group of local volunteers that dedicate their time to fundraising and organizing each year to make this event available for their community. This event is not-for-profit but the ticket sales, film sponsorships, advertising spots and bake sale raise funds to cover the cost of obtaining the films for screening and to host the film festival for the following year. |
